AWSP Highlights


  • Dorn Calls for Changes in Math, Science
    Dorn will ask the 2010 Legislature to make changes to current math and science graduation requirements. Among those recommended changes: Replace the current high school science assessment with end-of-course assessments in life sciences and physical sciences, and postpone the current graduation requirement until the class of 2017.

  • Watch It: Update on H1N1
    On Nov. 16, OSPI hosted a statewide K-12 videoconference to update educators on the latest news and policies regarding H1N1. The videoconference is now available for viewing, as are handouts from the presentation.

  • OSPI Assessment Webinar Now Available
    Watch, listen and learn about upcoming changes in the state assessment system. This PowerPoint-based presentation includes audio from a recent OSPI Webinar. (This is a WMV file, which requires a media player to open.)

  • NAEP Math Scores Up for Eighth-Graders
    Only 15 states boasted an increase in eighth-grade scores on the 2009 math National Assessment for Educational Progress (NAEP)—and Washington was one of them.
