Cle Elum-Roslyn Principal Elected to Leadership
High school principals elect Boyd Keyser to board   

OLYMPIA–Nov. 27, 2006—High school principals from around the state have elected Cle Elum-Roslyn High Principal Boyd Keyser second vice president of the Washington Association of Secondary School Principals (WASSP) Representative Council. Keyser will serve a three-year term rotating into the president-elect position next year and the president position the following year. The Council is one of three advisory boards within the Association of Washington School Principals, the state’s largest professional development association for public and private school building principals.   

The WASSP Rep. Council is comprised of nearly 40 high school principals and assistant principals from around the state. The Council serves as an advisory board to the Association on issues related to high school, including the state’s new graduation requirements, implementation of the new Collection of Evidence, school safety and best practices for high school administrators.

Keyser will serve as one of nine members of the Council’s Executive Committee, which oversees Council meetings and operations. Officers are elected each fall by high school principals across the state. His term of office begins November of 2006 and will conclude in 2009.  

Keyser has been principal of Cle Elum-Roslyn High since 2002. Prior to that, he served as principal of Sisters High School in Sisters, Ore., and Central High School in Monmouth, Ore. He has been a building administrator for10 years and taught Social Studies for 13 years before entering administrative work. He earned his superintendent’s credentials from Lewis and Clark College, a master’s in education from Linfield College and a bachelor of arts degree from Western Oregon University. 

Keyser, a graduate of The Dalles High School, is married and has one daughter and two sons.

The Association of Washington School Principals is a professional association serving principals, assistant principals and principals in training. Formed in 1972, the Association now includes more than 3,400 members from public and private elementary, middle and high schools statewide. It is governed by a board of practicing principals composed of members drawn from three grade-specific boards representing the elementary, middle and high school levels.
