AWMLP Board of Directors

The AWMLP Board of Directors consists of an executive committee, regional directors and organizational liaisons. Professional development opportunities are an integral part of every board meeting. Board members earn clock hours for participation in best practices sharing and presentations relevant to today's educational issues. The Board meets three times per year in various locations throughout the state.

AWMLP Board of Directors Handbook

The executive committee includes the president, president-elect, past president, vice president, three-year AWSP representative, NASSP coordinator, regional director representative and director of middle level programs.

Regional directors are selected by members in each of the 15 geographical regions across the state. They represent their regions on the board of directors by making an annual report of regional activities and disseminating information from the board meetings to region members and encouraging continuous professional activity among principals within regions. Regional directors serve a three-year term for a maximum of two full, consecutive terms.

Ex-officio organizational liaisons consist of designees from the Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction (OSPI), Washington Interscholastic Activities Association (WIAA), Middle Level Student Leadership Committee and the AWMLP support staff coordinator. Additional liaisons may be appointed.

AWMLP Vice President Election

Each spring all AWMLP members vote for a colleague to serve as AWMLP vice president. Candidate selection alternates between the east and west sides of the state annually. The election takes place immediately following the spring meeting of the AWMLP Board of Directors and is administered through Zoomerang, an online survey service. Candidates are announced at the spring board meeting and nominees have an opportunity to address board members concerning their candidacy.

The vice president, following a one-year term, will automatically become president-elect the next year.

If you have any questions about this election process, are interested in serving on the board of directors or becoming involved with the Association in other ways please contact AWSP's Director of Middle Level Programs Don Rash or AWMLP Coordinator Annalee Braley at AWSP, 800.562.6100.

Congratulations to Whitney Meissner, principal of Chimacum Middle & High Schools, Chimacum School District, for being voted in as AWMLP's 2010-2011 Vice President.
