Washington Association of Secondary School Principals (WASSP)
Representative Council
The Washington Association of Secondary School Principals is one of
three AWSP component boards and is comprised of
practicing high school principals and assistant principals from
around Washington state. The WASSP Rep Council was created
to promote the improvement and advancement of education and public
interest in schools. The Council believes the mission of every
school is the growth and development of youth through the growth and
development of its staff.
WASSP shall promote a common bond and working relationship among
secondary school administrators by:
- Working cooperatively together to provide the best services and
education to the students in Washington's secondary schools.
- Working particularly for the improvement of the process of
educational management of the secondary schools.
- Providing and promoting programs for the professional improvement of
the individual member.
- Studying professional problems relating to the secondary
schools.
- A public relations program concerning the secondary administrator,
secondary youth, and the secondary school.
- Presenting the professional opinion of WASSP to the public,
governmental and educational organizations.
- Generally doing all other things appropriate to achieving its
educational and charitable purposes.
WASSP Executive Committee
The Executive Committee is comprised of nine
elected committee members who oversee all committees and
the representative council.
WASSP Representative Council
The Representative Council is comprised of members
from each one of the WIAA football leagues.

WASSP Committees
There are three standing committees comprised of WASSP
members:
Committee Chairs
Leadership
- Provide training for high school students and student
council/government advisors in leadership techniques.
- Provide a continuing program of student conferences/workshops.
- Coordinate and advise on programs and activities of the Washington
Association of Student Councils (WASC) and the National
Association of Student Councils (NASC).
- Coordinate participation in NASC and National Honor
Society sponsored activities.
Smaller Secondary Schools
- Provide support and develop communication with and between smaller
secondary schools.
- Provide and promote programs for the improvement of smaller
secondary schools.
Assistant Principals
- Recommend positive actions that representative council can take
to address the concerns and enhance the role of assistant
principals.
- Chair serves on the Assistant Principals’ Conference Planning
Committee.
- Provide for recognition of state and league Assistant Principals of
the Year.
