Curriculum Guide for Outdoor Education

The Cispus Experience

The Cispus Experience is a curriculum guide designed specifically for use at the Cispus Learning Center. It contains more than 200 lessons that covers over 300 instructional hours. The format allows  teachers to pick and choose lessons based on the structures of their own camp. Lessons are arranged by topic, such as plants and animals, trees, local points of interest, stars and heavenly bodies, outdoor behavior and etiquette, geology and soils and many more.

The Cispus Experience was written by 15 teachers who regularly bring groups to Cispus, as well as college students specializing in environmental education. The guide was written to meet the needs of educators who use the facility for outdoor programs. Many of the lessons are adaptable to other outdoor facilities.

Individual copies of The Cispus Experience are $45, but can be obtained for $25 if purchased for all teachers involved in your program. To order, call 360.497.7131.
