Planning & Packing

Managing a Cispus visit has many aspects. This section has been designed to help you think of the myriad details involved in a sucessful experience. Whil these lists may not be definitive, they will certainly get you started. Best wishes for a rewarding experience at Cispus!

Before Coming to Cispus

Mail to Cispus:

  • Signed contract
  • Completed Program/Facilities form (green)
  • Certificate of Insurance form

Assign camp roles:

Planning a program:

  • Select rooms for your program needs
  • Arrange with Cispus for Challenge Course or Leadership Training program experiences
  • The Cispus meal times are: 
    Breakfast 8 a.m.
    Lunch Noon 
    Dinner 5:30 p.m. 
  • Arrange for equipment needs
  • Review the information pamphlet with your staff
  • Discuss Cispus safety precautions with participants
  • Establish program and camp rules
  • Explain to participants what and what not to bring to camp

Things to consider:

  • Do members of your group have special dietary needs (i.e. food allergies, vegetarian diets, etc.)?
  • Does any member of your group need to stay in a dorm equipped to accommodate wheelchairs?
  • Do you need a free and reduced meal list for an OSPI report?
  • Do you need additional housing, such as trailers?

Completing paperwork common to organizations:

  • Most school boards require permission for an overnight trip
  • Public schools require purchase orders for Cispus

Prepare a parent/guardian permission slip that includes:

  • Medical history of participant
  • Parent/guardian medical release
  • Emergency information
  • Arrange for transportation to Cispus
  • Inform faculty and staff of upcoming Cispus visit

Arriving at Cispus

Check into the Cispus office:

  • Verify meal times and meal numbers
  • Arrange for checkout times
  • Review the fire alarm and furnace procedures
  • Pick up keys
  • Verify room and dorm asignments and any AV needs
  • Checkout any recreation equipment
  • Meet with other group leaders at Cispus to coordinate meals, dishwashing and facility use
  • Send dining hall coordinator to meet kitchen staff and review procedures
