About AWSP's Legislation Committee
The Legislation
Committee serves as liaison/resource to the AWSP Board on all
legislative matters.
Committee functions include:

Identify and prioritize AWSP legislative concerns

Monitor legislative action, assist with AWSP testimony as
appropriate
-
Recommend legislative direction/action (as necessary and when
practical) to the AWSP Board

Channel legislative input from the membership
Legislation Committee Goals

To increase grassroots involvement of AWSP membership.

To provide a more effective voice in legislative matters (proactive
vs. reactive).

To maintain strong internal communications.
-
To increase public relations effectiveness.
Legislation Committee Membership
-
Each of the nine (9) congressional districts in the state is
represented by one (1) member each from ESPAW, AWMLP and WASSP for a
total of twenty-seven (27) congressional district members who comprise
the AWSP Legislation Committee.

The Legislation Committee has a chairperson and co-chair or
chair-elect.
-
The Legislation Committee has an Emeritus Representative who
represents AWSP retired members.

The ESPAW Federal Relations Liaison is a member.
-
Each component president is an ex-officio member.
-
The Director of Governmental Relations and Retirement Liaison
are ex-officio members of the committee.
