Great principals use great strategies! This year’s conference theme is “GPS: Great Principal Strategies.” Sessions and activities will focus on strategies to help you navigate through the principalship and kick-start the 2010-11 school year.

GRADE-SPECIFIC PRE-CONFERENCES: TEACHER EVALUATION

This year’s conference program includes grade-specific training on teacher evaluations, designed especially for building administrators.
On Sunday, Oct. 3, three pre-conference sessions—one for elementary, one for middle level and one for high school—will cover evaluations, instructional conversations and legal issues. (See details below.) These pre-conference sessions are included in the cost of the conference and meet the Washington State legal requirement of ongoing teacher evaluation training for principals.

KEYNOTE SPEAKERS:

Monday, Oct. 4: What does a successful professional learning community look like? Find out from PLC experts Dr. Robert Eaker of Solution Tree and Janel Keating, Assistant Superintendent of White River School District, who will discuss what highly effective collaborative teams do to strengthen all students’ learning levels within the day-to-day classroom culture. Whether you’re planning to launch a new PLC or hoping to energize an existing PLC, this interactive half-day session is for you.

	Tuesday, Oct. 5: Step up your leadership skills with Dr. Bill Daggett! Recognized worldwide for his ability to move education systems forward, Dr. Daggett has assisted hundreds of school districts in building and implementing school improvement initiatives. Join your colleagues in an intense examination of strategies to help your students develop more rigorous and relevant skills and knowledge.
	Enjoy the Tuesday luncheon with author and renowned speaker V.J. Smith, who will introduce attendees to The Richest Man in Town. Learn how one man’s simple philosophies can change your life and the lives of others around you forever. Prepare to be inspired by a message that will resonate in the heart of every education leader!
