Middle Level Regionals 10-12 sites across
the state first of February
Middle Level Regionals are one-day leadership conferences. The
curriculum is designed to provide delegates a motivational leadership
experience. Students leave with new ideas, an expaneded view of a
leader's role, and energized for action. In addition, school groups
practice teambuilding skills. Serving as one of the host sites gives a
school's student leadership program the opportunity to showcase their
skills and school. More than 2,000 students and advisers participate in
Middle Level Regionals each year in February.

Fall Middle Level Team Retreat Each October
at the Cispus and Chewelah Peak Learning Centers
The three-day Middle Level Team Retreat is designed to increase the
effectiveness of a school's student leadership team. The goals of the
retreat are to enhance the leadership skills of student leaders and
their advisers, to provide school delegations a teambuilding experience
and time to develop action plans for school activities and projects and
to give student leaders and their advisers a chance to network and share
ideas. The Team Retreat is held each October at both the Cispus and
Chewelah Peak Learning Centers.

Senate Youth
Program The annual United States
Senate Youth Program was established in 1962 by United States Senate
Resolution 324 and is sponsored by the Senate and fully funded by the
William Randolph Hearst Foundation. Each year two high school juniors or
seniors from each of the 50 states and the District of Columbia attend
the all-expense paid, week-long tour of Washington, D.C. In Washington
state, the United States Senate Youth Program is managed by the
Washington Association of Secondary School Principals (WASSP). Each
summer, WASSP sponsors, a series of week-long Student Leadership Camps
for student body officers, class officers, cheerleaders, team captains
and other student leaders. At the conclusion of each camp, the camp
delegates nominate two students as state finalists for the Senate Youth
Program Scholarships.
