GEAR UP support programs Information |
In the spring of 2008, Washington Student Leadership served seven of the 37 schools in Washington with GEAR UP grants. A successful match was experienced between the Washington Student Leadership curriculum and the GEAR UP program. In addition, AWSP's Cispus and Chewelah Peak learning centers and their challenge course facilities were incorporated into some of the GEAR UP programs. To better serve all of the GEAR UP grant schools, Washington Student Leadership has developed three program offerings. Each program is based around the cornerstone concepts of know yourself, know your options and know how to work with others. |
| Custom Workshops and Trainings | Besides organizing statewide events, Washington Student Leadership can come to your school's doorstep. We will work with your school to design a custom workshop that fits the unique needs of your students or staff. Workshops can be three hours or three-day retreats. |
| ASB Legal Issues | ASB is unique in that the law requires students, advisers and administrators to collaborate on the use of funds for extra-curricular activities. Join this interesting, spirited session to learn about ASB rules and regulations, budget writing and meeting organization. |

Raising Student |
Raising Student Voice & Participation (RSVP) is a student engagement program sponsored by the National Association of Student Councils and the national Association of Secondary School Principals. The RSVP process uses democratic dialogue to give students a chance to speak out and take action on school improvement and community issues. Washington State is one of ten states selected to pilot the program during the 2006-07 school year. |
