February is Future Educators Month!

AWSP is declaring February 2020 the second-annual Future Educators Month!

We want "Future Educators Month" to be an ongoing effort throughout the year. Educators understand the importance of sustaining and increasing the pipeline of teachers and principals. We want Future Educators Month to continue to inspire high school and college students to become teachers, and for teachers with a passion for leadership to become principals.

Give 'Em Your Keys

Somewhere in your school there is a teacher with the skills to become an amazing principal, and a student with the skills to become an amazing teacher. If you know one of these teachers or students, "give 'em your keys” by showing them support and encouraging them to take a closer look at the principalship or education as a career.

Passing along the key is a symbolic act. We’ve had an informal “Give ’Em Your Keys” campaign for a while. Download one of our key certificates from this page to use as a tool to start the conversation. We encourage you to pass along a key to a teacher or student in your school that has the skills to lead and who always does what's best for kids.

Enter to Win

Once you find that future educator, share on Facebook or Twitter (#GiveEmYourKeys) who you think would make a great teacher or a great principal, and you'll be entered to win a gift card!

A Workshop for Future Leaders

This year's Future School Leaders Day workshop is Feb. 26, 2020 in SeaTac. Whether you're currently in education and considering the next big career step, or just interested in learning more about a career in education, AWSP's Future School Leaders Day is for you. This workshop lets teachers explore options for taking their career to the next level, and gives high school and college students some information about the field of education. Attendees will hear from current teachers and administrators on why they chose the profession.
